FloDo Designs was created as a tribute to the creativity instilled in me by my amazing mother. FloDo stands for "Florence's Daughter" and it was only fitting that when I decided to share my creations with the world that my mother get the recognition she was due.

I started sewing at the age of 10 and have always been fascinated by the process of taking flat folds of fabric and creating dimensional items. Whether it is doll making, sewing apparel or accessories, or making items for my home, I find the process very therapeutic. There is a true serenity that comes of focusing on a project, working through the construction and admiring the end results. Even more rewarding is the sharing of these creations with others.

As a collector, I own 11 sewing machines and when in production mode there are usually 4 of them going at all times ~ three creating embroidered designs and the fourth used for construction. As you can imagine this creates quite a hum of activity the sound of which can be meditative on its own.

I draw much of my inspiration from the sights and sounds of my home state of Maine. I am drawn to the ocean and visit as often as I can. I find these visits very rejuvenating for the soul.
